Services for Robert Wilson will be Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Healing River Worship Center with burial following in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 12:00 PM.
Robert was born on April 21, 1930, in Yale, Oklahoma to James & Mary Ellen (Kizer) Wilson. He grew up in and around Yale attending school there and playing on the football team. He proudly served in the United States Army as an Airborne Ranger during the Korean War. On September 30, 1955, Robert married the love of his life, Alice Christine Newman.
Robert was a hard-working man his whole life. Growing up through the Great Depression and Dust Bowl was extremely difficult, and through the diligence and perseverance of his mother, Mary Ellen, he learned the value of hard work. With his father being absent from the home, Robert assumed the responsibility of helping his mother provide for their family by working in the cotton fields and other harvests at age 4. He became a boilermaker and welder at the age of 16 and worked in this profession until he retired from Blue Circle Cement Plant in Tulsa, Ok. When he wasn’t on the job, he was still driven and active, always with a goal in mind and never one to just sit around. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards and dominoes, and going to auctions. As a younger man, he had been a bull rider and his love of animals especially horses were ever present in his life. His family was of utmost importance to him and his love for them immeasurable. He always said that one of his favorite things to do was to dance with his bride.
Robert was also a man of faith and loved Jesus. He attended Friendship Freewill Baptist Church for many years and more recently was part of the congregation at the Healing River Worship Center. He loved going out on Sundays after church to have a nice meal and time of fellowship.
Robert entered into Glory on Monday, December 4 at his home in Walnut Shade at the age of 93.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice Christine; brothers, James, Tom, and Don; and sisters, Marie, Treva, Diane and Margina.
He will be greatly missed by his two children, son Ronald Wilson (Coeta Elaine) of Rose, OK and daughter, Xanda Christoffersen (Jesse) of Walnut Shade. His twelve grandchildren, Justin Wilson, Amy Schultz (Dylan), Callie Thorne (Josiah), Alura Randell (Dakota), Joseph Christoffersen (Madison), Marcus Christoffersen (Rosemary), Hannah King (Matthew), Stephen Fogleman, Payton Christoffersen, Lucas Christoffersen, Joshua Christoffersen, and Elijah Christoffersen.
