Shirley Lorene Smith, also lovingly known as “Nanny” and “Slim,” age 84, of Cassville, Missouri.

Shirley Lorene Smith, also lovingly known as “Nanny” and “Slim,” age 84, of Cassville, Missouri passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

She was born September 26, 1940 in Hazel Valley, Arkansas the daughter of Lawrence and Pauline Garnett (Evans) Napier-Hammon. On October 23, 1959 in Wichita, Kansas she was united in marriage to Eddie “Lynn” Smith, who preceded her in death on May 4, 2017. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Tony Napier and a sister, Wanda Meyer.

Surviving are two sons, Jamey Lane Smith and his wife Sonya of Cassville, Missouri and Jerry Lee Smith and his wife Tori of Cassville, Missouri; two daughters, Lorie Lynn Robertson and her husband Eric of Lavaca, Arkansas and Lana Lea Kesner and her husband Jason of Springdale, Arkansas; two brothers, J.R. Hammon and his wife Carolyn of Andover, Kansas and Danny Hammon and his wife Jeanine of Lenexa, Kansas; four sisters, Ella Storrer of El Dorado, Kansas, Bobbie Sprang and her husband Ben of Olathe, Kansas, Janice Pope of Pratt, Kansas and Garnett “Sissy” Dixon and her husband Dave of Derby, Kansas; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Shirley grew up and went to school in Wichita, Kansas graduating from Wichita Southeast High School in 1958. She was a homemaker her entire life, loving every minute of it. Shirley enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing, playing Canasta. She was a dedicated caregiver to family, friends, and others. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville, Missouri, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Donnie Spears will conduct the services.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at Corinth Baptist Church in Cassville.
